DAY 1: CASABLANCA, THE WHITE CITY

Even before you arrive at the Casablanca airport, the anticipation of your custom tour will begin. You won't believe it until you leave the airport and are greeted by your English-speaking chauffeur and new friend.

Journey Morocco's drivers are a big part of what sets them apart; visitors consistently praise them as among the highlight of their trip because of the insight they provide into everyday life in Morocco.

Envision being greeted by palm trees and Moroccan flags as you exit the airport...

Your own personal chauffeur will transport you to your lodgings. Your driver will take you to Hassan II, one of the largest mosques in the world, as soon as you feel comfortable there. Its size and amazing architecture will astound you, and its religious and historical significance will fill you with awe.

The interior was meticulously planned, and you'll get to see it on your tour.

Glass flooring in part of the mosque allows visitors and worshipers a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean below. Step back outside to snap a photo of the stunning minaret and breathe in the sea air.

DAY 2: IMPERIAL CITIES RABAT & ANCIENT FES

Envision yourself waking up in Morocco, ready to experience the holiday you've been planning and dreaming about for ages.

You will board a van in the morning and go to Fes. On the way, you'll have lunch and some free time to explore Rabat, the capital and royal residence.

After lunch, you have the option of visiting Volubilis, where you may explore the ruins from the second century and gain insight into life in the Roman Empire. The next stop on your journey will be Fes, Morocco's spiritual capital.

The tour of the medina, one of the largest walled cities in the world, will commence after breakfast. You will travel through the winding streets of Morocco in search of the country's famous Berber carpets, freshly picked fruit, and aromatic spices. Some of the places you'll go to and see include the tanneries, the potters, and the King's Palace. The medina is where you will have lunch at a local eatery. The tour will end after lunch, and you will head back to your hotel for the night.

You'll be taking a road trip to Fes today, stopping in Rabat, a coastal city, on the route. Before you and your driver set out on your journey, stop for a traditional Moroccan breakfast.

Rabat is of particular relevance as it is the seat of government in Morocco and the official residence of King Mohammed VI. After a delicious lunch in Rabat, you'll continue on to the historic city of Fes. Car rides are a great way to unwind, get to know your driver, and pick his brain about the best of Morocco and what you shouldn't miss.

Picture donkeys bringing cases of Coke into the ancient city, a shop stocked with colorful spices, a warehouse bursting with carpets in every imaginable color and pattern, and the perfume of freshly baked bread wafting through the air.

Fes is the next stop on your trip. Fes is one of our favorite cities since it is full of interesting locals, vibrant characters, unique stores, and thrilling streets.

Don't pass up the fresh and sweet Moroccan orange juice from the roadside stand; this is your special holiday!

DAY 3: THE ANCIENT GATED IMPERIAL CITY OF FES

After a leisurely, traditional Moroccan breakfast, your tour of one of the largest walled cities in the world, the ancient medina of Fes, will commence.

The medieval city of Fes, and its famous, vibrant walled medina (a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world's largest pedestrian area), is the focus of today's excursion. In order to properly describe this once-in-a-lifetime event to your loved ones, you will want to memorize every aspect of these crowded streets.

You will walk by stalls selling fresh fruit and have the chance to feel the silky blue and white pottery. The call to prayer will sound, prompting the people of the city to do their religious rites. You can get a glimpse of authentic Fes here. If you're a curious traveler, your guide will be pleased to fill your curiosity about the places you'll visit.

After weaving your way deep enough into the medina, you will be able to enjoy lunch at one of the top restaurants in the area, even though you probably won't be very hungry (since the top way to travel is trying every amazing roadside snack). Envision a spread of salads so vast that you won't be able to eat them all before you're too full to enjoy your main course of steaming tagine or couscous.

Fresh round Moroccan flatbread, called "khobz," will be consumed by the basketful because it is that delicious. And just when you thought you were too full for dessert, there it is: seasonal fresh fruit, delectable Moroccan biscuits, and sugary mint tea.

The tanneries (the fragrance is unforgettable), the King's Palace, and the potters will also be on your itinerary. Get some rest at the end of the day in your dreamy riad.

DAY 4: FOSSILS & MERZOUGA DESERT ADVENTURE

Your journey across the Middle Atlas Mountains will begin after an early breakfast. As you descend from the Atlas Mountains into the Sahara Desert, you'll spend most of the day threading your way through picturesque woods, craggy rock faces, and quaint Berber communities.

The village of Midelt, well-known for its abundance of fossils and geological formations, will serve as a halfway point lunch stop. After the long drive, you can reward yourself with a relaxing hot shower or swim in the pool (season permitting).

DAY 5: SAHARA DESERT NOMAD EXPERIENCE

Most of the day will be spent lounging around the hotel or exploring the charming oasis community nearby. To reach the magnificent Sahara sand dunes, you will spend the afternoon driving in 4-wheel drive vehicles across the arid landscape. This is an unforgettable way to the spectacular Sahara sand dunes. The Sahara looks much smaller in images than it does in person!

After a two-hour camel ride, you'll reach the oasis, where you'll spend the night in Berber tents with a complementary authentic Berber meal and dining experience.

The dunes stretch out as far as the eye can see, casting deep shadows and gentle waves. Feel the warm sand between your toes as you gaze out over the golden brown sea on a crisp morning. As night falls, you'll be able to pick a camel and ride out to the Berber tents - imagine drifting off to dreamland surrounded by more stars than you've ever seen before.

If you prefer not to camp in our luxurious Berber tents, you can opt to spend the night in your riad or hotel.

DAY 6: HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS & CLIMB TODRA GORGES

You will ride camels back to the 4x4s and then continue on to Erfoud after breakfast. The Todra Gorges are located behind the High Atlas Mountains, which you leave behind when you leave Erfoud.

You'll go for a hike in the 600-foot-tall Todra Gorges in the afternoon. Traveling towards the southeast of Morocco is a pleasant experience thanks to the scenic river valleys.

Before venturing through the High Atlas Mountains, you will spend the night in a location close to the Gorges or Ouarzazate.

DAY 7: AFRICA'S HOLLYWOOD, KASBAH AIT BENHADDOU & MARRAKECH

You get up and get on the road to Marrakesh through Ouarzazate. It is one of Morocco's crown treasures, and it's hidden away in the High Atlas Mountains.

The real gems, in classic Moroccan manner, are hidden away, off the beaten route. More movies than any other location in Morocco have used this one. Films like Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and The Gladiator have all been shot here. You can stop at Ait Ben Haddou for lunch.

You'll be crossing the highlands to reach Marrakech after lunch. After arriving in Marrakech, the first order of business is to check into your accommodation before seeing the medina's main square, Jemaa el-Fna. The area is fantastic, especially in the evening when it comes alive with local storytellers, entertainers, and delicious BBQ grills. Sipping tea in peace on the terrace of a nearby café affords one a breathtaking bird's-eye view of the square below.

DAY 8: THE WONDROUS MAGIC OF MARRAKECH

A trip of Marrakech, the "southern pearl of Morocco," awaits the group after breakfast. Many historical sites, such as the Saadian Tombs and the Palace of the Bahia, await your exploration.

After lunch, the tour will proceed to Jemaa el-Fna and the beautiful Koutoubia Mosque, two of Marrakech's most popular sights. The tour will wrap up with a stop at the local market, or souk.

The Bahia Palace is an amazing place to visit. Enter the tiled courtyard and you'll feel like you've stepped into the nineteenth century. Relax in the quiet of the gardens even if you're in the middle of a busy metropolis.

The Saadian tombs, where members of the Saadian dynasty have been laid to rest, are another important historical landmark. As you explore the elaborately decorated chambers, you might find it hard to believe that these tombs were once forgotten about, especially given their status as one of Marrakech's most popular tourist destinations today.

Envision sipping mint tea and people-watching in this picturesque city.

DAY 9: DEPART FROM MARRAKECH
